Upcoming Activity:
Funding Call: Research Incubator
Open: 2nd May – 16th June 2023
Applications are now invited for the
N-CODE Research Incubator 2023
This call provides dedicated resource and funding to support seedcorn projects for new and emerging interdisciplinary collaborations within the N-CODE remit to use technology to move the diagnosis and management of neurological, neuropsychiatric or neurodevelopmental conditions out of the hospital and into the community.
Seedcorn projects last for 6 months and address a healthcare or biomedical challenge using mathematical and computational approaches. This proof-of-concept funding should seed onward grant funding and publications.
Projects can be proposed by any interdisciplinary team of N-CODE partners, but the interdisciplinary nature of this call means that investigators must come from at least two disciplines. For example, a neurologist and a computer scientist, or a biomedical engineer with a biomedical researcher. Applications including industry partners are welcome.
Projects should have a clear research question and achievable end points. Data and relevant approvals should be in place.
Each investigator team will be assigned an N-CODE Research Fellow with the appropriate quantitative skills to work with you to drive the project forward, and a budget of up to £10,000.
Applications will be open from 2nd May to 16th June.
Successful applicants will be required to attend a two-day incubator kick-off event on 14th & 15th September 2023 where projects will be developed in collaboration with the project team and the assigned Research Fellow. A budget of up to £10,000 will be approved at this event. As part of this process, applicants will receive advice and guidance from a professional services team including public engagement & involvement (including lay members), research facilitators, and business engagement who will provide support to develop outputs and applications as your seedcorn project evolves.
Overnight accommodation for 1 night on 14th September will be provided (if required). Additional funding is available to cover caring costs, including childcare.
