The N-CODE Expo

N-CODE is pleased to announce that our face to face EXPO will be taking place in June 2024. The conference will be an opportunity to bring together professionals from healthcare, the neurotechnology industry, academics, funders, charities and those with lived experience to discuss the latest innovations and research in developing technologies that enable community-based diagnosis and management of neurological conditions for the benefit of patients.  

There will be many chances to network throughout the event, as well important updates on the progress of the network so far, a poster session and a conference dinner on Monday 10th June.  

There will be some opportunity to livestream the presentations, but this will be limited and delegates are strongly advised to attend in person to experience the full EXPO.

Registration is now open using the University of Birmingham Online Shop. Registration will close on Friday 24th May, 17:00 (BST).  

The registration fee includes all food and refreshments including the conference dinner. Please let us know of any dietary requirements when you register.

The cost of accommodation is not included in the conference fee. See ‘Accommodation information’ for further information.  

 

Postgraduate student: £75 

Postdoctoral researcher: £100 

Faculty and charity representative: £150 

Industry attendee:  £200 

We invite abstract submissions for poster presentations, particularly from Early Career Researchers.  

To apply for a poster presentation, please send your completed abstract to: ncode@contacts.bham.ac.uk by Monday 13th May, 17:00 (BST).  We aim to notify applicants by Friday 17th May.  

Abstracts must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document and include: 

  • Abstract title 
  • Name and affiliation of presenting author 
  • Name and affiliation of co-authors 
  • Email address of presenting author 
  • A scientific abstract (up to 250 words) including: Introduction, Methods, Results and Conclusion

The N-CODE EXPO will take place at The Studio, 7 Cannon Street, Birmingham, B2 5EP. 

This is situated at the heart of the city, close by to all major transport links. Map and directions can be found here.

By train: The venue is 2 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street Station. Exit the North exit ‘Stephenson Street’ or ‘New Street entrance’ and head up Lower Temple street past Café Nero. Turn right at Starbucks and continue down New Street (Tesco on your left). Cannon Street is the second street on the left, The Studio is half way along Cannon Street on the right hand side.  

By car: Detailed driving directions are available on the Studio website here.  As a city centre venue, there is no onsite parking, though the recommended car parks closest to the venue are NCP High Street, postcode B4 7LN and NCP New Street, postcode B5 4AN. Both car parks are around a 10 minute walk.   

The closest disabled parking spot is on Waterloo Street, which is just around the corner from Cannon Street. Delegates would need an Orange or Blue Badge.

The cost of accommodation is not included in the conference fee. The fee includes all food and refreshments, including the conference dinner.  

As a city centre location, there is a wide variety of hotels close by. Suggested sites to search for accommodation to match your budget include Booking.com or Expedia. The venue postcode is B2 5EP.

Travel support is available for up to 10 attendees with either lived experience of neurological conditions or those with limited resource (such as PhD students or ECRs who do not have their own conference funding) to attend the N-CODE EXPO in Birmingham.

A maximum of £250 per person and where possible, travel and accommodation will be booked through the University of Birmingham providers.

The drinks reception and conference dinner will take place in the Studio event space from 18:30 on Monday 10th June. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements when you register for the event.
